SENIOR PRODUCER
Full-time.
Contract – 10 Months (Maternity Leave position)
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Producer. The role is a key one in the Critical Stages team, chiefly responsible for the realisation and delivery of the company’s productions and tours. The scope of the role includes:
- Production – overseeing all elements of production delivery including liaising with creative artists and co-producers on each production; working with CST’s Production Supervisor to ensure technical and production elements of each production are realised; casting coordination; contracting artists, co-producing companies and presenters.
- Tour Co-ordination – ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of each tour including booking travel; creating tour books; giving tour briefings.
- Other producing tasks as required including budget development, financial reconciliations, and assisting with grant applications and acquittals.
- Assisting the CEO & Director with general company management and administration, including managing producing and production staff, policy development, and general administrative tasks as needed.
The position is full-time, and the preferred dates for this contract are 11 July 2022 – 12 May 2023. Salary will be dependent on experience within range of $70,000-$72,500 p.a.
The candidate must be based in Sydney.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a producing role for the performing arts sector.
- Demonstrated ability managing artists and creative teams.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including experience working with a variety of stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience in performing arts touring in Australia.
- Tertiary qualification in theatre, entertainment or arts management or an equivalent relevant knowledge, training and/or experience
CREATIVE PRODUCER
Permanent Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
The Creative Producer works closely with the Senior Producer on the realisation and delivery of Critical Stages Touring’s touring program. The scope of the role includes:
- Production – supporting the Senior Producer to oversee elements of production delivery including liaising with creative artists and co-producers on each production; working with CST’s Production Supervisor to ensure technical and production elements of each production are realised; casting coordination; contracting artists, co-producing companies and presenters.
- Tour Co-ordination – booking travel arrangements for tours; creating tour books; giving tour briefings.
- Supporting Critical Stages Touring team in other producing tasks as required including creative development and production marketing.
The candidate must be based in Sydney. The salary is $65,000 p.a. pro rata.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the performing arts sector, preferably in a producing or production capacity.
- High level organisation and time management skill.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with artists and creative teams.
Desirable
- Experience in performing arts touring in Australia.
- Tertiary qualification in theatre, entertainment or arts management or an equivalent relevant knowledge, training and/or experience
